Go-Bolt was developed in Florida by a building contractor soon after Hurricane Andrew had devastated South Florida, to improve hurricane resistance in construction.

HOWGO-BOLT WORKS

Go-Bolt uses the time tested design of block construction and applies it to frame construction.

Typical Block Construction Uplift Transfer
1. Strap to transfer loads from roof into bond beam.
2. Bond beam to transfer loads horizontally.
3. Downpours to transfer loads vertically to foundation.

Typical Go-Bolt Uplift Transfer
1. Strap or clip to transfer loads from roof to top plates.
2. Top plates with sheathing to transfer loads horizontally.
3. Go-Bolt to transfer loads vertically to foundation.

ADVANTAGES OF THE GO-BOLT SYSTEM

MUCH LESS HARDWARE: With the Go-Bolt systems ability to transfer the uplift loads directly from the top plates to the foundation, there is no uplift applied to the framing members below the top plates, and there is no need to strap and clip these framing members for uplift. Go-Bolt will eliminate clips and studs - header straps - hold downs - floor truss straps and any other hardware used to transfer uplift loads below the top plates.

EASIER INSTALLATION: The Go-Bolt system is much easier to install then conventional straps and clips. Being a preset bolt, they can be placed before the pour to insure correct location. After the pour the bolt threads up from the pour 3.5 inches. After the framing is completed, apply a nut and washer to the bottom plate for lateral and shear resistance, then extend the bolt with a coupler and rod through the top plates, apply a nut and washer to the top plates and you are done.

CLEANER FRAMING: Go-Bolt is placed in the walls unlike conventional straps and clips that applied to the face of the walls. Straps and clips applied to the face of the walls will cause obstructions behind the finish veneer, thereby causing sheetrock to bulge. With the Go-Bolt system, the framed walls will not be covered with metal connectors, thereby allowing straight walls - straight and tight trims and no nail  blowouts from hitting the connectors.
